Sergeant Major Elisabeth "Lisa'" Jones, U.S. Army (Ret.)

Lisa Jones Is currently serving as the Career Coach Supervisor and Deputy Lead Coach for VA for Vets, a newly launched program by Secretary Shinseki to Increase the number of veterans employed within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Ms Jones volunteered in the U.S. Army in 1985. During her career, she served in ill myriad of assignments as a Career Counselor in two, three and four-star commanding general level commands. While serving as an Instructor at Fort Jackson, SC, she provided mobile retention training to military installations around the world. She was the first recipient of Soldier Support Institute's Recruiting and Retention Distinguished Leadership Award. SGM Jones also served a  tour in Afghanistan where she worked with the newly formed Afghan National Army and led numerous humanitarian missions to local schools, orphanages, villages and assisted with the Afghan Women and Children clinic to promote health and wellness.

Her final tour of duty was as the Command Career Counselor, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany; serving over 26 years before retiring as a Sergeant Major on July1, 2011

Among her many recognitions, she is the recipient of the Legion of Merit (10LC) and the Bronze Star Medal.

Ms. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College, a master's degree from University of Central Texas, and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy.

She is the proud mother of Whitney, Vassar College alum, who is currently pursuing her master's degree In International Politics at American University.
